Biography

Daneeca Medina is a Colorado-based multidisciplinary artist whose work explores memory, impermanence, and human connection through drawing, music, and performance. Best known for her distinctive Etch A Sketch artwork, Daneeca transforms a childhood toy into a powerful fine-art medium—creating detailed portraits, typography, and live illustrations that exist in a constant state of becoming and erasure. This inherent impermanence deeply informs her artistic philosophy: that beauty lies in the present moment, not permanence.

Daneeca’s creative journey began early, shaped by a lifelong curiosity for visual storytelling and sound. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies with a minor in Business Management, a background that supports her ability to merge art, education, and entrepreneurship. In addition to visual art, she is a singer-songwriter and music producer, founding Goo Records to uplift hip-hop and indie pop artists while creating community-centered performance spaces.

Her work spans Etch A Sketch illustration, drawing, music production, live performance, and arts education. Daneeca has taught children, teens, and young adults across Colorado, including juvenile youth programs where she uses music and art as tools for self-expression, healing, and confidence-building. Teaching and community engagement are central to her practice, influencing both her process and purpose as an artist.

Daneeca’s creative process is intuitive and embodied—often beginning without a fixed plan and allowing the work to reveal itself through repetition, rhythm, and flow. Whether sketching live, composing music, or teaching, she views art as a shared experience rather than a finished object.

Through her work, Daneeca aims to remind audiences that creation does not require perfection—only presence, courage, and the willingness to begin again.
