Corazón en la Comunidad invites nonprofits, schools, libraries, and recreation centers across six Denver Metro area counties to host a free Milagros del Corazón community art workshop.Partners receive wooden hearts, art supplies, and a CHAC teaching artist for a 2.5-hour session, bringing their community together through creativity — with hearts joining CHAC's 2027 exhibition.
Whether it's your clients, patrons, students, or staff, your workshop brings your community together around a shared act of creativity, painting wooden hearts that become part of a 500+ heart collective exhibition celebrating belonging, culture, and connection across six counties: Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver and Jefferson.
CHAC will select up to 10 Corazón en la Comunidad partners for our inaugural year.

4 Ways you can be involved
What you'll do:

Provide a space to host the 2.5-hour workshop

Promote the workshop to your community and help drive turnout

Return completed hearts to CHAC by the program deadline: February 7, 2027.

Allow CHAC to photograph and video record the workshop for marketing the exhibition

Survey participants with a pre/post belonging survey, self opt-in

About the 2027 Milagros Del Corazón featured Heart
Milagrito was a heart designed by Mexican-born Denver artist, Charlo Garcia Walterbach. My art uses words, symbols, and lines to create patterns where messages and themes can be hidden in plain sight. For this heart-shaped piece, I took inspiration from the meaning of the Spanish word milagro and incorporated it into the composition. Other words, including juntos, comunidad, and corazón, are also woven throughout the piece, reflecting ideas of togetherness, community, and love.
the artist
Charlo is a multimedia artist and designer who strives for one thing: joy. Using symbols, letters and lines, his monochromatic two-dimensional works are a space for exploration and discovery. Hidden themes and messages reside in the densely packed compositions, allowing viewers to impart their own sense of meaning from the works, or be delighted by the meanings provided by the artist.
