La Llorona Festival 2021 at Corky Gonzales Library (1498 Irving St., Denver, Co.) kicks off Recuerdos 2021 on Sat. Oct.2nd from 2- 4 pm .
CHAC’s Dia de Los Muertos season Recuerdos 2021, kicks off with a mesmerizing storytelling event- La Llorona Festival 2021 - featuring some of the state’s most celebrated cuenteros, as they recount tales and legends surrounding the Weeping Woman-La Llorona.
Enjoy featured tellers: Kristopher Garcia-Simms, Geraldina Lawson,  Sherry Coca Candelaria & Karen Gonzales, guest tellers Nadia Rendon, and Nicolas Cabrera. There will be an open mic. for community members to share their own La Llorona stories and refreshments.
Featured teller Kristopher Garcia-Simms,  is the author of Red Moon Night:An  Epistolary Telling of One Family’s Encounters with La Llorona. Featured teller  Karen Gonzales,  is the author of the short story Finding the Lady Llorona, set in the 60’s along Denver’s West Colfax Neighborhood, where three friends in disguise , seeking to find the truth about La Llorona.
Other featured tellers include Geraldina Lawson and  Sherry Coca Candelaria regionally recognized for their compelling La Llorona performances.
