SHOW STATEMENT: 

​

The Chicano Humanities and Arts Council (CHAC Gallery & Cultural Center) has been a center for Chicano/a/x and Latino/a/x artists in Denver for over 4 decades. A vibrant multi-generational community that continues to pass down their artistic legacy and empower community. Here the artists cultivate storytelling; as a way to encourage self-reflection, personal development, community and teach others. 

 

This Community Spotlight features the artwork of member artists from the Chicano Humanities and Arts Council. This artwork is an illustration of their self-identity, family and cultural heritage, and spirituality. The Chicano Humanities and Arts Council is a living and breathing history in Denver whose member artists strive to pass on their knowledge to the next generation.

DEADLINES & DATES: 
  • Online Submission Deadline: Friday, Feb. 21st at 6 pm

  • Drop off: May (exact date/time TBD)

  • Drop off location: CHAC Gallery at Santa Fe (834 Santa Fe Drive Lakewood, CO 80204)

  • Pick up: August (exact date TBD)

  • Fees: No Fee

  • Showing artists must pick-up and drop off on scheduled dates/times


LIMITATIONS: 
  • Eligibility: Open to All CHAC Artists (membership must be current) 

  • Theme: The Legacy and Power of Chicano/a/x Artists in Denver ​​

  • Artist may submit 2 pieces (only 1 maybe selected) 

  • Presentation: All submitted works must be ready for hanging (wired, etc. no sawtooth)

  • Art must be family-friendly 

  • Artwork will NOT be for sale (this is an opportunity to highlight CHAC Artists at the DAM)

  • Hanging art size limit: 3 feet by 3 feet 

  • 3D art allowed (space is very limited for 3D art)

  • Chosen artists will need to write artwork labels and an artist statements according to DAM guidelines 


SHOW RULES: 
Liability and Responsibility, CHAC and its partners will take reasonable care in...
  1. Handling all entries but will not assume liability for loss or damage

  2. A signed waiver is required for all entries

  3. Showing artists must pick-up and drop off on scheduled dates

  4. Art submissions may be used by CHAC for promotion

Please ensure that you complete both steps.

STEP ONE:
Please click link in STEP TWO to make sure your image uploaded! If you don't have google if may not let you. If it did not upload, please USE STEP TWO TO UPLOAD YOUR IMAGES!

STEP TWO:

Please note, your images MUST be titled with your name and the title and dimensions of the artwork. (To rename JPEG files, right-click on the JPEG image on your computer, scroll down to ‘Rename’ and click, and then re-title your file with the correct naming convention).
