SHOW STATEMENT:

​

The heart remembers in ways the mind cannot. While names may fade and photographs may curl at the edges, love leaves an imprint that endures. Our joys, our sorrows, our laughter and our tears, all of it is carried forward in the rhythm of our beating hearts. Hearts do not forget.

 

Día de los Muertos invites us into this truth. It is not a day of sorrow but of reunion, a time when we open the doors between worlds to welcome back those we carry within us. We do so with color, with altars, with food, with music and with art. Each offering is a bridge, each brushstroke or sculpted form a reminder that connection does not end with death.

 

This exhibition is both a celebration and an invitation. The artists gathered here give form to memory, weaving together stories of family, tradition, resilience, and love. Their work reflects the heart’s ability to remember not only individuals, but entire histories, entire communities, entire ways of being.

 

Hearts Do Not Forget asks us to pause and listen to what memory whispers through us: the warmth of a grandmother’s kitchen, the sound of a father’s guitar, the laughter of a child now gone but not absent. It is these threads that hold us together across generations.

 

As you walk through this exhibition, may you feel the presence of those you’ve loved and lost. May you find joy in their nearness, comfort in their memory, and strength in the knowledge that while the body may leave, the heart does not forget.

DEADLINES & DATES: 

• Online Submission:  Friday, Sept. 19th by midnight 

• Drop off: Sunday, Sept. 28th, time 1 to 4PM

• Pick Up: Saturday, Nov. 15th 12 to 3PM

• Fees: $10 a piece for members, $15 a piece for non-members

• Showing artists must pick-up and drop-off on scheduled dates

LIMITATIONS: 

• Eligibility: Open to CHAC Members and Non-Members 

• Theme: Día de Muertos

  Submission Limit: 2 pieces (only 1 piece may be accepted due to space restrictions)

  Presentation: Art Must be Family Friendly 

• All entries must be for sale 

• Art Size Maximum: 18" x 24" 

• ​ Hanging: All submitted works must be ready for hanging (wired only)

• 3D art allowed (space is limited)

• Repeat art may not accepted 

• Commission: 30% fee taken

Liability and Responsibility, CHAC and its partners will take reasonable care in...​

1. Handling all entries but will not assume liability for loss or damage

2. A signed waiver is required for all entries

3. Showing artists must pick-up and drop off on scheduled dates

4. Art submissions may be used by CHAC for promotion
