As we prepare to honor and celebrate the memories of those who have moved on, we invite artists to submit their work for the CHAC @ 40 West Día de los Muertos Exhibit. This year’s theme, "Sagrados Corazones and Muertos," invites you to explore the sacredness of your loved ones who have departed and the enduring connections that transcend life and death.

In this year's Día de los Muertos exhibition, "Sagrados Corazones and Muertos," we gather to celebrate the profound connections we share with those who have passed. This theme encourages us to reflect on the sacredness of our loved ones and the indelible marks they leave on our lives, even in their absence. 

 

Art has the power to transcend the boundaries of life and death, allowing us to honor our ancestors and remember their stories. Each piece in this show embodies a unique interpretation of love, loss, and legacy, inviting viewers to engage with the memories and emotions tied to their own experiences of grief and remembrance. 

 

Through a diverse array of mediums and styles, the artists in this exhibition explore the sacred hearts of those who have transitioned to the afterlife. These works serve as altars of memory—vibrant, poignant, and filled with the essence of the lives we cherish. They remind us that our loved ones are never truly gone; their spirits continue to guide and inspire us.

 

As you wander through the gallery, we encourage you to pause, reflect, and connect with the stories behind each piece. Let this exhibition be a space for honoring the past while celebrating the enduring bonds of love that persist through time and beyond.

DEADLINES & DATES: 

• Online Submission:  Oct. 23rd 

• Drop off: Oct. 27th from 10am-12noon

• Pick up: Dec. 1st from 10am-12noon

• Fees: None  

• Showing artists must pick-up and drop-off on scheduled dates

LIMITATIONS: 

• Eligibility: Open to all CHAC artists (Must be a current CHAC Member)

• Theme: Muertos and Sagrados Corazones (Sacred Hearts) can be one or the other or a mixture of both, let’s see your creativity!

•  Submission Limit: Artists may submit up to 2 pieces. Please note that depending on the number of entries received, we may only be able to accept 1 piece per person.

• Presentation: All submitted works must be ready for hanging (wired, etc. no saw tooth)

• Art must be family friendly 

• All entries must be for sale

• CHAC will take 30% for commission 

• Showing artists must gallery sit or pay $25

• No repeat art may not accepted

• Please contact the curator if your piece is larger than 16” x 20” or  3D (Sculpture)

Liability and Responsibility, CHAC and its partners will take reasonable care in...

1. Handling all entries but will not assume liability for loss or damage.

2. A signed waiver is required for all entries.

3. Showing artists must pick-up and drop-off on scheduled dates
